“Perhaps the hardest thing about losing a lover is
to watch the year repeat its days.”
― Anne Carson, Glass, Irony and God
To kick off Spring 2025, I chose Robert Hass’s “Time and Materials.” I must admit that this read presented one of the best imageries yet. About the Poet: https://lnkd.in/d583rDsG
“Hass is Distinguished Professor in Poetry and Poetics at the University of California, Berkeley, and lives in California with his wife, the poet Brenda Hillman.”
Here are two poems at Auscult: 2024: MCW's Literary & Arts Journal. Thank you to Salma Sherrif (M1 | Medical College of Wisconsin), Jacob Ballard, and Evanka Annyapu for publishing my work. Honored!
Auscult is a literary and arts journal published periodically at the Medical College of Wisconsin since the early 1990s. It showcases the creativity, compassion, and artistic talents of the medical community. The magazine includes poetry, fiction, non-fiction, and visual arts created by MCW students, staff, faculty, and hospital affiliate employees.
Now, I am on a red blaze, ablaze and reading Anne Carson’s Glass and God.
Anne Carson's first full-length publication in Britain, Glass and God, introduces an assured and challenging new voice: vivid, laconic, and precise. Her 'Short Talks' are about everything from Sylvia Plath to Franz Kafka, from waterproofing to walking backwards; the brilliant long poem 'The Glass Essay' deals with the end of a contemporary love affair but is haunted by the Brontë sisters. Blending the modern and the classical, Anne Carson writes with an intensity and an integrity that is transfiguring.
Until next time,
